Job Title: Vice President, Computational and Data Science
Location: New York City, NY
As the Vice President, Head of Computational Biology/Data Sciences, reporting to the CSO, you will be responsible for building and leading Computational Biology and Data Sciences strategy. You will drive strategic decisions and oversee cutting-edge projects that leverage data sciences to address complex biological questions.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and lead Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, and Data Science strategy in accordance with the company’s strategic objectives
- Evaluate and build innovative, scalable, and reproducible computational pipelines for data to enable the generation of biological insights
- Develop, evaluate, and apply computational biology methods for translational research
- Develop and implement scientific strategies, including identifying novel methodologies and approaches
- Translate long-term strategic objectives into near-term tactical priorities for the computational biology team
- Hire, lead, and mentor a team of computational biologists and/or data engineers
- Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and external partners
Qualifications:
- PhD in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Data Sciences, Statistics, or a related field
- 15+ years of experience in a related profession, with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in drug development in life sciences
- Expertise in ML/AI, analytics, software development & pipelines for genomics, and data management systems
- Demonstrated experience building and leading digital biology, computational biology, and/or bioinformatics teams
- Demonstrated experience integrating diverse data sets and driving rigorous biological analyses
- Familiarity with regulatory guidelines
- Excellent communicator with the ability to translate complex scientific concepts for a variety of audiences
