POSITION SUMMARY
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
-
Development and execution on a departmental vision that leverages the unique strengths of the U of A. -
Strategic, scientific and administrative leadership. -
Faculty and staff recruitment, mentoring, development and retention. -
Educational and training programs. -
Clinical informatics and AI research programs. -
Team science collaborations. -
Ability to develop and apply cutting edge biomedical informatics and AI technologies to healthcare applications. -
Evidence of ability to build relationships with healthcare partners and working with their data.
SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE
-
Excellence in recruiting, mentoring and developing of faculty, staff, trainees and students. -
Evidence of successful program building. -
Ability to build multi-institutional collaborations. -
Must possess a PhD in bioinformatics, health informatics, medical informatics, biotechnology, biomedical engineering, computer science or related fields or MD with additional specialty training in biomedical informatics as evidenced by an MS or Clinical Informatics board certification or comparable training. -
Expert in field as demonstrated with PhD in bioinformatics, health informatics, medical informatics, biotechnology, biomedical engineering, computer science or related fields or board certification in Clinical Informatics (ABPM).
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
-
Have a track record of successful federal grant funding in informatics. -
Show national distinction in teaching, patient care or clinical research in an academic department or comparable environment. -
Be eligible for a University of Arizona academic appointment at the full professor level. -
Be eligible, if an MD, for unrestricted medical licensure in the State of Arizona and eligible for medical staff membership at Banner – University Medical Center Phoenix. -
Exhibit a strong track record of progressively complex administrative experience (e.g., program leader, center/section director, etc.) in an academic medical center setting.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
-
Have an additional health profession degree (e.g., MPH, MS, etc.). -
Demonstrate leadership in an academic department of Biomedical Informatics. -
Have a track record of national distinction in service as seen by participation on NIH study sections or national committee leadership in American Medical Informatics Associate (AMIA) or similar professional societies. -
Exhibit past and/or continued research funding with evidence of high impact scientific research, including peer-reviewed publications in leading journals. -
Have a track record working with diverse communities.
