Position Overview: As the Head of Computational Biology and Bioinformatics, you will lead a team of talented scientists and technologists, driving the development of innovative computational tools and ensuring the highest standards in research and software practices.
Your leadership will advance our R&D projects and deliver impactful biological insights.
Key Responsibilities:
- Team Leadership: Build and mentor a high-performing team of scientists, engineers, and technical leads (10-15 direct reports).
- Pipeline Development: Oversee the creation, validation, and maintenance of scalable, reproducible computational pipelines for data processing and feature extraction.
- Standards and Practices: Ensure best-in-class scientific standards and software development practices to achieve robust, reproducible results and support large-scale data generation.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with wet-lab scientists and clinicians to integrate computational methods into broader research efforts, addressing emerging needs and ensuring comprehensive engagement from experimental design to data analysis.
- Innovation and Advancement: Drive innovation in computational biology methods, staying abreast of the latest developments in the field.
- Strategic Alignment: Translate long-term strategy into actionable priorities for the computational biology and bioinformatics team. Effectively manage resources, including budget, personnel, and technology, to align with strategic goals.
- Communication: Articulate complex computational concepts and results to non-expert stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience building and leading computational biology and/or bioinformatics teams in a biotech or pharmaceutical setting.
- Expertise in developing and implementing robust computational pipelines for biological insight generation.
- Experience with large-scale data generation in the life sciences.
- Proficiency in integrating diverse data sets and conducting rigorous biological analyses, including next-generation sequencing and other high-throughput assays (e.g., proteomics).
Education & Experience:
- PhD in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of industry experience in computational biology or bioinformatics.
